"Just 5 More Minutes"

YUP! That's all I was wanting this morning....Just 5 more minutes of glorious slumber! Oh, I got it and then some ... 30 minutes more!!! It kind of set the tone for the rest of my day and not in a good way!

When I decided that I needed just 5 more minutes, my alarm (NOT ME, of course not) forgot to reset itself! How dare that alarm clock. Anyway, Thank God for a daughter who knows how to get herself up, fix her own lunch, and be ready for carpool by 7am! Wish I could say the same for the boy in my house, but.........let's just say his talents lie elsewhere.

Anyway, as I stated earlier, it pretty much set the tone for my Wednesday! When carpool was gracious enough to pick up the other boys in order to pick mine up last to give him more time, I thought AWESOME and THANK YOU ANGIE! No need to take child to school when it's not my carpool day! This is huge people!!! We moms cherish those mornings! Don't we ladies? Anyway, I start thinking I'll get to all my "doings" after a relaxing cup of Joe, little bit of GMA, yada, yada, yada ... BAD MOVE! Because that darn, unreliable clock of mine starting racing, and I suddenly realized I had some important documents that had to be printed and delivered before 2pm. Why 2pm you ask? Because out of the blue I realize...IT'S EARLY RELEASE DAY!!! Of all days, why today! Oh well...No problem I say to myself. So I finish working on these documents and go to hit print! You need to know a minor, but very important part of this story at this juncture... I have been living on borrowed time with a printer that has needed a new toner cartridge for quite awhile! The old saying "Never put off to tomorrow, what could be done today" was starting to sarcastically sing to me! I was hating that little diddy right about this moment! Printing was not gonna happen. With the clock ticking and me trying to decide my next step, another diversion comes into my day.... I get a phone call that required my immediate attention and an errand that ate up about 30 minutes. I get back home and try to decide what to do about the printer when 2nd phone call comes in from dear ole Cracker. (Our last name is Graham...get it...Cracker. My endearing nickname for hubby. I'm Saltine...I know TMI) Anyway, he has taken his car into the shop and needs me to pick him up and take him back to work!!! REALLY??? Why do you guys not ask a bud at work to help with these sort of errands. I even asked him this all important question. His response was that he decided to do this errand after he had already left work for lunch and realized this was a good time to do this chore. REALLY??? What if I wasn't available is what I asked! Poor Cracker...he profusely apologized and had no idea the day I was having. I do however want you husbands to know something...we wives (working outside of the home or not....I do work and happen to office out of my house) are not at home eating bon bons by the pool all day, all though I must take up this task immediately! Sorry for digressing ~ Back to story ~ I pick up hubby and"floor" it back towards his office all the way complaining and whining about my day and that I only have an hour left to get this important task done when he asks ..."Can you run through somewhere so I can get some lunch?" REALLY??? This is when I threw in the towel and just had to laugh!

Moral of story... Make dang sure you reset your alarm clock if you want that extra 5 minutes! It will most definitely either make or break your day! Also, make sure to plan for those unexpected diversions that are ALWAYS going to occur when you least expect it. Also, when the toner goes out of your printer...DON'T WAIT...REPLACE IMMEDIATELY! And yes....I admit it....this day was not my clock's fault, Cracker's fault, printer's fault and not even early release day's fault....It's all mine! And just if your curious...I made it to Office Depot to buy cartridge, printed documents and delivered them by 1:59! It's got to be 5:00 somewhere, because that's where I'm headed!
